Leave A Little Sparkle…

Saturday, December 13th, 2014

Every year, around this time, we are faced with so many occasions, holiday parties, shopping dates, gifts to wrap, food to cook, and people to entertain – the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. We’re constantly on GO. We’re thinking. We’re doing. We’re anxious. We’re excited.

And we’re wondering what we’ll receive this year for Christmas. In the midst of all this chaos, our minds are on overdrive to find the perfect gift, outfit, etc. But are we really living in the spirit of Christmas?

Giving and receiving presents may be what our world has created Christmas to be, but there is so much more to the value of giving that I am afraid a lot of us (including myself) have looked passed more than once in our lives.

In the world we leave in, we value gifts based on how much we will be spending, what it took to get the present, and the reaction we see once our family or friends open our gifts. All this is very nice, but we have grown so accustomed to the traditional world of gift giving, that I feel it sort of has lost it’s sparkle in a way.

Yes, Kate Spade handbags and Sephora gift cards (hear me mom?) are always a great gift to give and receive, but at the end of the day, all that every person needs in this world is love.

As 2014 comes to a close, I want us to take the last few weeks of December to be givers of love. And there are SO many ways we can do so.

Call a friend you haven’t talked to in a while. Lend your brother money for his school lunch. Pick up the tab. Write a love note. Pay for a random person’s toll. Buy your boss coffee. Spend a little extra time talking to your mom. Donate to a charity. Put a smile on someone’s face.

Now you may be thinking…these are all gestures I can do anytime of the year…why now? And that’s what makes Christmas so special. It’s the perfect time of year to reflect on these little gestures that actually mean a lot, and see what we have done in the past year. Some of us may do so on a daily basis, others may not. No matter the case, I want us to take this time between now and Christmas to leave a little sparkle and continue to do so throughout the new year.

I want you to join me on this love crusade, and I would love to see how you impact your life through giving. Follow me on Instagram @sparkleingold, and feel free to post any pictures as you spread love to the people around you with #leavealittlesparkle.

Let’s be the givers. Let’s bring on the love. Let’s leave a little sparkle.

How many of you have had a day where you feel all the goals, desires, and dreams that you desire are just so far fetched? That everything we have done to get where we want to go, just isn’t adding up. Well, I want to let you know that you are not alone in this world of reaching your goals.

When you have a goal in mind, it’s hard not to want it right away. And when we do not obtain that particular goal in the time frame we desire, we become anxious and upset that we did not achieve it. I’m here to tell you that it’s okay. It’s okay to not to meet your goals.

We tend to all give ourselves extra pressure. Extra pressure, to be the best person we can be, to do well at work, to fit in- me being the biggest offender of all these! But, this extra pressure- it’s the stuff that hinders our chance at succeeding.

Let’s wake up each day knowing that we will make a step that brings us one step closer to any of our goals. Let’s only focus on who we are, what we’re doing and where we are going. All people that are ahead of our goals, let them be an inspiration- not a constant reminder that we are not there yet. And for those that look up to us along the way, let us be their guide, and a positive reinforcement that they too, can do it.

So, loves, I hope this leaves you with a little pep in your step and excited to tackle anything that we have in our minds to today!

Enchanted Gold…

COAT: Michael Kors (on super sale!) / DRESS: ASOS (similar) / BOOTIES: ALDO (on sale!) / HAT: Nordstrom / WATCH: MARC JACOBS / BRACELETS: BTB JEWELRY (mini crystal circle bracelet) & Swarovski / GOLD FLOWERS: Prohibition and Pearls

As I sit here writing this post listening to the brand new Taylor Swift CD, 1989, I cannot help but think how the scenery for this post is sooo Taylor Swift. I know, cheesy, but all that keeps playing in my head is “Enchanted” from her prior album, and I am totally loving the assimilation.

Okay besides my over obsession with Tay- I am utterly in love with these paper flowers from Prohibition and Pearls! They make the chicest home decor and come in so many different colors!

I hope you have the best Monday, loves!

Be Here Now…

Saturday, November 8th, 2014

As you may know, I started Sparkle In Gold- my fashionable lifestyle blog – as an outlet to let my creativity thrive. Why? Because I felt there was something missing in my life. Don’t get me wrong- I love where I am at right now with my job, my relationships, and being at home with my family, but I knew there was a piece missing. And it was letting my fun, fashionable, inspirational side out- to all of you.

That being sad, it’s hard not to question where you are going in life. Am I where I am supposed to be right now? Will I be happy and successful with this opportunity or will I be sad and miserable? Where do I go from here? Will this work out?                  These are all questions that quite honestly have run through my head plenty of times- and still do on certain occasions. Though these periods of self doubt can reek havoc on our brain, it is something we have to learn to accept, confront, and move on from.

The best way to move on from all your worries about the future, expectations, and life standards is to be here now. You may be like…but I am. Are you really though? To fully be in the now is to be thankful for everything in your life at this moment- even if the experiences and situations are not your ideal. When you bring focus to this very moment, you’re not regretting things of the past or worrying about the future. As you realize and feel grateful for everything you have been blessed with up until this very moment- it is then you start attracting more good experiences into your life.

Believe it or not, it is the very moment I focus on the present that everything I ever had doubts about seem to go away or fall into place.

Here are some tips that have helped me be here now:

- Wake up each day with a grateful heart. Saying thank you for a new day really guides you on the right path.

- Count your blessings. Your health, wealth, family, friends, job, etc. are all very important blessings in your life. But what about your daily necessities? Without them you wouldn’t be able to do half the things you need to do in a day. Couldn’t live without those shoes, could you?

- Be positive. One important element of being in the now is to stay positive with every circumstance we are dealt. Having your mind focused on what you have, but having complete faith that what you want will happen creates numerous opportunites for you to be blessed with what you have asked for.

I hope you found this post to be helpful, and please feel free to share how you focus on being in the now!

SHIRT: Marshalls (similar here) / JEANS: Lord and Taylor (similar here) / SHOES: Jessica Simpson (similar) / HANDBAG: Kate Spade / FLOWER CROWN: Kenzie Jaws (similar)

I have always loved the Bohemian style- the airy and light pieces make for a romantic silhouette I cannot get over! Inspired by this lusty appearance, I found this Flower Crown at a local street market in Boston and instantly knew I NEEDED it! And it literally brings out my inner flower child- not kidding! The color goes perfectly with Fall, and I find myself wanting to incorporate it with all my sweaters & dresses! Check out Kenzie Jaws- her Flower Crowns are all handmade, and literally look real!
