“The doors will be opened to those who are bold enough to knock”- Tony Gaskins

The start of a new month always leads me thinking on where I have been, and where I want to go. With 2015 almost halfway through (how the heck?!), most of our “new year goals” have already been thrown out the window a longgg time ago. That’s why with a start to a new month, an almost mid-year recap on what you have accomplished and what you would still like to succeed always helps to refresh your mind and get you excited again to tackles those goals.

So how do you go about this “refresher” you may be asking. Well, for most of us, taking 30 minutes to an hour to analyze our goals is hard to schedule into our busy schedules, but making that small step is the very start to accomplishing your wants.

So next time you have some free time, get a pen and paper and start to think. First, think about everything you have accomplished, people you have met, places you have gone, etc. Write down what you are thankful for and what you have learned through those experiences. Next, think about what you are doing currently day to day. Are you making daily/weekly/monthly progress to you goals? Have you been so busy/ under pressure that your goals & wants haven’t even been touched (my life as of lately!)?

If you are already making steps towards those goals, smile, congratulate yourself (we all deserve some positive self recognition!), and then jot down ways you can continue the progress to your goals, and even ways to put more effort into them. If you’re like me, and you haven’t had a chance to even relax never mind put time into those dreams, then now is the time to refocus and start making a list of things you want to get through in the next day, week, or month. Now I know we all have a bunch of goals in our head we would love to overcome in like a day, but if you just focus on one at a time, you will not feel as stressed about all this goal-pressure, and you will want to continue checking off your goal list everytime a new one is accomplished.

This may seem like a lot, but in order to grow, we need to realize our goals and wants. So I encourage you, as a new month starts, to analyze your dream goals, think of ways to make them happen, and open that door to success!

Sparkle Sesh// Inner Sparkle

I’m a big dreamer. Safe to say I spent most of my days in college dreaming of what I wanted to do after college. With majoring in Fashion and PR, and always having a dream of working at a fashion magazine/firm (the inner Andrea Sachs in me), I knew my heart was in the work, but not in the setting (I love being in the city, but living in it is just not my thing).

Two years later, I’m still visualizing my dream. I work in the Marketing department for a company that is near and dear to my heart, but I still daydream of what I want to do for the rest of my life. Don’t we all?

Being in my almost mid-twenties (not there yet, ha!), and almost always being more mature for my age, I feel that I am supposed to have my life goals planned out, business created, x,y,z…

But that’s not the way God works, and it’s definitely not something I am used to. Through all the indecisiveness and mini panic attacks, there still is something in me that keeps telling me that I’m on the right path, to keep going.

I like to call that my inner sparkle.

We all have it, we’re all born with it. Some find it at an early age, some realize it when they’re 50. Our inner sparkle drives us to that feeling of excitement we get when we touch upon our passion. It’s the flutter in your heart when your dream has come reality. It’s what makes everyone find their passion, and more often than not, run with it.

What I have learned from thinking about my inner sparkle is that you need to know what you want and why you want it. Actually sitting down and thinking of all the things you want to accomplish allows you to wallow in the why. For me, I knew that starting a blog was part of my want because it gave me the chance of dabbling in a little bit of everything I love- fashion, creativity, inspiration, and communication.

Though I am no psychologist, teacher, or mentor, I have always had a sincere desire to help people- have to thank my inner sparkle for that! So, part of my desire is to create Sparkle In Gold into not only a fashion/lifestyle blog, but a source of inspritation for life, love, work, hope, inspiration…that helps you find your inner sparkle.

So, it’s pretty much been a month since a last posted here on Sparkle In Gold (something I really am not proud of). I started this blog as an outlet to express my love for fashion, creativity, and to connect with so many other beautiful people, but somehow in the midst of it all, I sort of lost sight of everything my blog had to offer.

To be completely honest, I have always been the type to play by the rules in every area of my life. Maybe it was the strict Catholic school curriculum I experienced growing up, but I have never been a rule breaker or one to jump outside the box too much. So, when I started blogging, I delved into a hobby/creative outlet that really had no rules/guidelines and I was completely lost. Finding bloggers who I adored for their personalities, blog posts, and of course outfits- I started blogging in the shadows of others- constantly searching/comparing/noting what others where wearing/posting/doing. Constantly worrying if my posts were up to par with theirs.

Living in a world of comparison dulls your sparkle.

Finally realizing that the constant comparing of my blog to others was killing my inner sparkle, I decided to hold off on posting on my blog for a while to really capture what I really am meant to portray through SIG. Graduating with a degree in Fashion and Communications from the University of Rhode Island, fashion was/still is the main drive of this blog. But, there is so much more out there that means a lot to me than just posting my daily outfits.

I want this blog to be a creative outlet for me to share inspiring topics not only related to fashion, but to life, love, faith, beauty, and health. I want it to be a place you all go to and leave with a little added sparkle to you day. We all have something within us we are called to do, and though I am still in the works of discovering mine, this blog is my source of bringing out my inner sparkle.

Thank you to all of you who have followed my little blog for the past year, and hello to all of you who just started! I am so excited to dive out of my comfort zones and share my fashionable/creative/loving self with you all through this blog.
