Wearing a skirt and blouse to the office on the weekend is a great way to get noticed, and to feel cool and sexy, according to new research from the online fashion company Salon.
Salon.com, which partnered with Dillard’s to create the “Suit for the Weekend” program, found that women are much more likely to be seen with skirts and blouses than jeans or pants when they are shopping for new clothing and accessories.
While men’s and women’s styles are slightly more alike, the two styles are actually quite different.
Women, on average, wear skirts less than men’s, and they often wear blouses and skirts to work, too.
However, according the Salon study, women in the workforce wear more skirts, and men in the workplace wear more pants.
Salon’s research found that in 2016, women wore skirts for an average of 8.7 minutes more than men, and in 2018 they wore skirts a little more than 6.4 minutes more.
“Women tend to wear skirts for the purpose of expressing themselves more, and therefore for a different set of aesthetic preferences,” Salon.org co-founder Michelle Shivers said in a statement.
“The more feminine the appearance, the more attention you get, and the more people will come to you with their ‘lady talk.'”
But that’s not to say that skirts don’t have their place at work.
Shivers, who also founded the website Fashionista, told Salon.net that there is a lot of room for men and women to be in their own style.
“There are no perfect options,” she said.
“You can wear a jacket or dress, but I think if you wear a dress or jacket, you will be more recognized and appreciated for your style.”
Shivers pointed out that men are often the ones wearing suits or blazers and that they can get away with wearing skirts, but women often don’t like to be judged by how they look.
“If you’re a girl and you wear jeans, and you don’t think you’re sexy, it’s very flattering,” Shivers continued.
“But you’re also going to be more of a target.
It’s a little bit of a double standard.”
Salon.io’s “Sue the Boss” program is designed to help companies get the most out of their female employees.
The company’s mission is to help employees find new ways to be better at their jobs and to help them to grow in confidence and leadership.
Shiver said the company has also partnered with the Fashion Institute of Technology and the American Fashion Council to help female employees learn how to wear more feminine styles and more flattering clothing.
“We’re helping female designers to be inspired and have a better understanding of how to make the world a better place, and we’re also trying to help people to grow,” Shiver told Salon, adding that they have partnered with more than 100 women’s fashion brands and have created the “Pledge to Dress Up” campaign, which encourages women to wear dressy pants and skirts.
Shivering said that the company is working with several fashion schools to teach female students how to dress for work.
“One of our biggest challenges right now is to educate young women,” she explained.
“It’s a really important time for women to think about what they want to wear and how they want their bodies to be represented.”
Salon is also offering a $100 coupon code that can be used on up to five products, including clothing, shoes, and accessories, to earn discounts at Salon.
Shires said that she believes the program can help women and men grow in both confidence and in their ability to speak up and be heard in a workplace.
“I think it’s really empowering for women in our society to be empowered to speak about what we want, when we want and to have our voices heard,” Shires added.
“That’s something we can’t have without our leadership.”
