The Legend Of Billy Crystal will make his first appearance in an HBO special that stars Chris Rock as his son Billy Crystal, the legendary actor tells E!
The Legend will debut on the network’s upcoming series The Greatest Showmen, which will premiere in 2016.
“It’s a great honor and I can’t wait to tell the kids about it,” Crystal told E!
in a video that premiered at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
Crystal is set to appear on a special of the same name set to air on HBO.
In the clip, he talks about the importance of making sure his son is a “big bratt.”
“The Legend of the Showman” premiered on HBO in 2004, and Crystal’s son Billy will reprise his role as the titular character.
“I am the biggest bratt, so you know, he was a big brat and he was my dad,” Crystal said.
“He was a great dad and a great entertainer.
He was a phenomenal dad, and I just wanted to bring it back to the show and give him another chance to be an amazing bratt.
He’s a bratt as well.”
The Legend was created by Billy Crystal.
It is set in the 1960s and centers on a family of four in a Hollywood hotel.
Crystal said he didn’t want to retell the family’s story in a way that would be a repeat of the original show.
“That was a tough one, because the first show was a little too similar to the first one,” Crystal explained.
“We wanted to do a show that was a bit more like the first time and a little more similar to it.
We wanted to have more character development and be a little bit more honest.
So the way we did it was just a bit different.”
Crystal said that the show would be set in Los Angeles and centered around the character Billy Crystal (played by Rock).
“The first one, when I came up with it, was so much like the character of Billy in the old days, so I had to take a step back and really understand what he is and what he meant to the country, and that was the biggest challenge,” Crystal continued.
“And then I had a new show to do, so we had to re-learn the story, but we were so much more different.”
The Legends of Hollywood also starred Bill Murray, Richard Gere, and Michael Cera, and starred Ben Kingsley, Jane Fonda, and Bill Murray’s son David.
The Legends premiered in 2011.
