Everyday Sling Boot with Rockport

Though I will forever love Boston’s cobblestone streets, they aren’t so fun to walk in! There have been countless times where I pack an extra pair of flats to exchange for my heels, especially when it has been a long day and this gal does not feel like walking..I am mean wobbling! When it comes to finding that perfect fit within a shoe, I look for a couple of things. Comfort is above all else. Being a dancer until I went to college, God blessed me with the aftermath of wide feet- so jealous of all my size 6 friends. Such a feature leaves it sometimes near to impossible to find a shoe I love style and comfort wise.

You’ll probably guess that style is a close second when it comes to my choice in shoes. Accessories have always been my favorite pieces of clothing to pick out, and shoes can be such a fun element to add to any style. I love keeping my shoes to neutrals, that’s why I fell in love with these Rockport Sling Boots! The leather khaki is perfect for transitioning into warmer temps, especially with the peep-toe. The sling-back and wedge style leaves no room for wobbling on those cobblestone streets, and the lining is created with foam- making these shoes super comfortable!

I paired my boots with my new favorite pair of jeans. The raw edge is a fun trend I have been seeing a lot these days and I have to say I am loving it! This top is so great for spring. The neckline gives a different look to all the off the shoulder tops I have been wearing lately. Also, mint is one of my favorite colors to play with during spring- it matches perfectly with my boots!

Things have been non-stop around here these days! I’ve been creating non-stop for SoWa, and I cannot wait to share with you all/meet you all in person when I start selling my Sparkle Studio designs every weekend between May-October. I hope you all have an amazing rest of the week!

Balance in Pattern

I have a confession – I have not been good with balance lately..or sticking to a pattern. The past month has been a crazy ride of working three job’s- Cedar’s, my blog, and the debut of Sparkle Studio (see the reveal here!).

In the midst of it all, I feel like I am getting so much done yet cannot keep up with life. How is it already almost Thanksgiving?! I have so many great projects in the works, and I am so happy to be creating what I am, but honestly coordinating all three right now is quite tricky.

Both my blog and now Sparkle Studio are full-time jobs in themselves, plus I still work full-time. My wonderful life-coach, Kayla, has helped me so much in helping me succeed in creating my businesses into what I want them to be. One valuable lesson we talked about a couple of weeks ago was if I am putting something new on my plate, I need to take one thing off. The crazy control freak in me had a minor panic attack when hearing this (queue “I can do it all” quote here).

From that conversation, I have learned how to hold off on completing projects in order to put more important ones first. Though tough, it feels insanely good to complete something entirely instead of trying to do 50 things at once, which never works in my favor.

My first real test with this practice was last week when I was preparing to launch Sparkle Studio and getting ready to travel to NYC to sell my prints for the first time. Sparkle Studio has been in the making for a few months now, but I finally took the plunge and have been working on it non-stop for the past few weeks. This meant my attention was less on my blog, and more on my new venture.

At first, I blamed myself for not being able to do both, but looking back, I am so glad I took a semi-break from blogging. Why’s that? Well, life still went on AND I was still building my blog as I was launching Sparkle Studio. Eventually, both will go hand in hand, but for now I have to be okay that some days I will not be able to show up 100% for both. As long as I am striving for balance I am still succeeding.

Now that I have recapped you all on all the excitement going on in my life, I want to share this adorable patterned top I picked up a couple weeks ago. The top if great when paired with leather leggings and booties, and I can easily see myself layering it with a cardigan or scarf.

I hope you all have a great Wednesday!

Cable Knit Sweater

SWEATER: Nordstrom (love this one as well!) // JEANS: Articles of Society // BOOTS: Jessica Simpson (last season, similar here) // LIPSTICK: Bobbi Brown “Sandwash Pink”

Happy Monday friends! Today I am sharing one of my favorite sweaters for fall. This cable knit sweater just exemplifies fall to me, for when I think of fall, I think of cozy cable knit sweaters, heavy layers, and cool temps to where them in. Though this sweater keeps you warm, it’s definitely not heavy, so it’s perfect for layering over or under other clothing!

How was everyone’s weekend? I feel like my past two weeks have been a whirlwind of traveling, getting sick, catching up, and working nonstop. This lady is just ready for a break! I have so many exciting posts coming your way in the next couple of month’s…just in time for the holidays!

Life Lately

SWEATER: Nordstrom // JEANS: Articles of Society // BOOTS: BCBG (similar HERE) // SCARF: Nordstrom // SUNGLASSES: Ray-Ban

Hi friends! SO it’s been a week! And I am so sorry it’s been that long, but life lately has been a little crazy. For starters, last weekend I traveled down to Rhode Island for my best friend’s engagement party. Her and her longtime beau finally are getting married, so all of my college best friends and I spent the weekend down there- and it was so fun!

Once I woke up on Sunday (still in Rhode Island), I felt horribly sick. So we drove home, and as soon as I could, I hopped into bed and stayed there…for two days! I was glued to my bed with cold/flu symptoms. I don’t know what came over me, but all I can think is that my body was exhausted and warning me if I didn’t stop, things would’ve been worse.

So in the midst of it all, I have yet to write a blog post this week. And though I am type A and hating myself for it, I just have to accept that life happens, acknowledge it, and move on. Can I do better next time (plan ahead, Odette!!), yes. And, I will! Just this time around life got in the way a little too much!

With life being so busy, I have honestly been reaching for more neutral, easy pieces to wear these days. My go-to’s consist of this sweater and jeans combo. Both pieces of clothing are so soft, and so comfy to wear all day while working. These jeans are perfectly dark and my favorite pair for fall – and they’re only $54!

I plan to be back on schedule with posting next week! Still feeling a little under the weather, so going to take this weekend to relax and catch up!

I hope you all have a great Thursday!

Striped Dress and Military Vest

img_1425-copySTRIPED DRESS: Nordstrom (sold out, similar here and here) // MILITARY VEST: Nordstrom (love this one too!) // BOOTS: Dolce Vita // SUNGLASSES: Ray-Ban // WATCH: Marc Jacobs

Hi friends, happy Monday! I hope you all are enjoying your long holiday weekend! I have today off from work, but working with my boyfriend today at his dealership, hence the late post! Today is such a beautiful day in Boston though, and I so wish we could just escape and head up north to see the foliage. And get an apple cider donut or two!

I have always love the concept of military jackets/vests. New England’s fall weather is so bipolar…sunny and 70 one day, then rainy and 50 the next. So, having a light jacket/vest on hand is always key (because I hate being cold!!). I love the idea of vests because they are so easy to throw over a sweater, or over a dress for that matter! I purchased this dress towards the end of summer, and never got a chance to wear it. So on Friday, I decided to pair it with my favorite military vest and over the knee boots.

Though I hate the cold, I still like the most of fall dress wearing. A swing dress like this is so perfect for layering…like I did in this post today. I can also see myself pairing this dress or any swing dress with sweaters or a warm scarf!

These boots have already been a go-to a lot the past couple of weeks. I am usually so excited for fall, that I wear boots the first week of September lol. But then I hate them come December!!! This year, I am trying to hold out and wear my boots here and there, but these boots make that so hard! I just want to wear them all day everyday.

I’ve linked some of my favorite swing dresses for fall below!

I hope you all have an amazing day!
